Coral Press will be at its third straight Brooklyn Book Festival, on Sept. 12, 2010. Come by our booth and say Hi. And here's video from last year's Festival.

We're proud to introduce our new blog, RIFF-RAF, curated by our editor Richard A. Fulco (the RAF in RIFF-RAF).

RIFF-RAF is a musical blog, which has already covered the quirks of lead singers, favorite harmonica songs, and the miracle of Marvin Gaye. Richie's asked us: "If you only wrote one song, what would it be?" and "What do you think of Ringo as a drummer?" (We say: the best ever.) He's also answered the enduring question: Who is the chicken man?

RIFF-RAF will continue to feature great questions, intriguing answers, interviews with musicians and writers, a cornucopia of hard-to-find videos, and always that Coral Press focus on the intersection of music and literature, where story and music come together to lead to ... who knows where?

Who knows where? That's where RIFF-RAF is going: Each post a surprise. Check back regularly and set up RSS feeds to see what Richie and our bloggers are up to.

Coral Press books are again available from our site via Paypal at Our Books. Don't forget the Swag page for cool T's and bags. And take a look at our brand-new Map of Musical Fiction. Books also now available on Kindle—here's Meet the Annas.

Our Meet the Annas Book Trailer is the "Example" video for Squidoo's Book Trailer page—meaning that they consider it state of the art. We have a great new Book Trailer coming soon for our next novel, Look at Flower. O.K., here's a quick look.

Our Meet the Annas Trailer is now in competition in the Foreword Magazine Book Trailer contest. Please choose the Annas video and vote thumbs-up here.

The Jukebox is here! This is a huge addition to our online presence.

On the Shelves part of the Jukebox we'll be publishing full books to read online—for free, anytime you want, at your own pace.

To make online reading easy and elegant, we've invented a whole new platform we call Just Like a Book. Just Like a Book allows you to read actual book pages online with large, easily read type. Ready to turn a page? Just click on the book page you're reading. A black arrow floats up and in a second the next pages of the book are in front of you. Finished reading for the day? Click on the Save Your Place button and your place is automatically saved and ready for you when you come back to the book. (Even if you don't click the button, your place will be saved.)

What could be easier? We've done our best to make Just Like a Book ... just like a book.

We're starting off with two of our novels, Meet the Annas and Getting in Tune, as well as stories from a new collection not yet published in paper form called Murder Ballads and Musical Tales.

Just Like a Book allows us to publish a chapter at a time, so you can start off with the first chapters of Meet the Annas and Getting in Tune, as well as "The River Song" (the first story from Murder Ballads). New chapters and stories will be rolled out with regular frequency. In the Chapters box to the lower left of the book pages all the posted chapters will be bright, ones not yet ready to read will be dimmed.

Eager to read the whole book right away? Just click on our Amazon button (upper corner by the right-side page) and order the paper copy.

Also up now: The Charts, our list of the Best of Musical Fiction compiled by Coral Press and Kellie D. Brown, author of The Annotated Bibliography and Reference List of Musical Fiction.

And more to come with the Jukebox. We're working on a Comix section to publish comics dealing with music. And we're also fashioning The Jam, a place for all fans of Musical Fiction to post their own stories, riffs on our books, fictional music ephemera, songs that fit our novels, songs that fit other novels—a whole truckin' gamut of interesting stuff.

Our books now have Soundtracks! We've compiled lists of actual songs that fit our Musical Fictions—and we've embedded the songs on each book page. Just click on the JUKEBOX to the right and you can hear music fitting each novel. All books are reachable through the Our Books page. Here are direct links: Pink Cadillac, Soul Cavalcade, Getting in Tune, Meet the Annas, Cutting Time, and Lone Star Ice & Fire.

Our books are available as ebooks on Sony Reader, Kobo, and Kindle. iPad up soon.

Big plans for 2010. Our first Just Like a Book original Musical Fiction will be published. Details soon. We'll again have a booth at the Brooklyn Book Festival; this year's it's Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. Also, 2010 marks our 10th Anniversary—special events up soon at the Year of Musical Fiction. And in the spring of 2011 Robert Dunn's new novel, Look at Flower, will be available everywhere. Here's a taste of the book: the Look at Flower book trailer.

By the way, our old blog, Rave On, is still up and working. It’s the part of Coral Press dedicated to discussions about Musical Fiction — especially the magical nexus between music and storytelling (and the other arts).

Our latest post is about seeing esteemed songwriters Leiber and Stoller at a Barnes and Noble talking about their new book, Hound Dog. Take a look.

We don’t promise to update Rave On that often, just when we truly have something to add about the sweet spot of music and storytelling.

And we hope you’ll join us by commenting on Rave On about your own thoughts about the mix of music and literature. As usual, Buddy Holly said it perfectly: Rave on, this crazy feelin’, [I know it’s] got us all reelin’….
