Coral Press publishes Musical Fiction, specifically novels about American rock, blues, and soul — books that communicate their own visions of our glorious, mythic musical landscape.

Where does the name Coral Press come from?

The marque is a tribute to Buddy Holly's record label.

I am a writer. May I send you my work?

Coral Press is looking for strong novels that fit our criteria: that the work has rock, blues, soul, jazz, or pop music at its core, and that the book has literary merit. Please submit one (1) query e-mail to editor@coralpress.com. We will respond within six weeks (usually quicker); if we ask for further material, we will respond to that within six weeks from submission.

We are thinking about starting a line of Young Adult musical novels—please write if you have good ideas.

Does Coral Press have a blog?

Oh, yes. We've recently launched Riff-Raf, curated by editor Richie Fulco. Riff-Raf is a fascinating journey into the heart of music and fiction.

How can I best find out about other works of Musical Fiction?

The best place? The Charts—our guide to the Top 40 musical novels, also on the Jukebox.

We used to love to recommend the Bomp Bookshelf for its fine lists of all books on music, and we were proud that both Pink Cadillac and Cutting Time received the rare Bomp Pick. But since the passing of Bomp's founder, Greg Shaw, in 2004, only a limited portion of the Bookshelf is back. By the way, Greg was a strong supporter of Coral Press and a great guy.
